Dividing curtains and protection netting

We install all dividing curtains and division netting for sports halls, balcony and ceiling protection netting and archery and golf nets.

Archery nets

We install solid mesh archery nets with retractable netting running on aluminium trackway or tensioned wire rope. These can be installed inside or outside and are supplied in white or green. For steel tipped arrows we recommend a double layer of mesh 300mm apart.

  • Archery netting on trackway for indoor use
  • Archery netting on wire for outside use

Balcony protection nets

We install balcony protection netting to follow the line of a balcony to protect individuals from balls kicked from below or to protect those below from balls thrown from above. We normally provide 50mm netting in white, blue or green and running on aluminium trackway or tensioned wire rope or fixed netting on a wire rope grid. We install

  • Retractable netting running on trackway or a tensioned wire and free hanging often with a weighted bottom line
  • Protection netting fixed to a top and bottom wire

Bowler's protection nets

We install bowlers end protection nets with retractable netting running on aluminium trackway or tensioned wire rope. We install

  • Nets running parallel to the end wall of a sports hall or gym either full width or half width
  • Net which link with the outer wing net of lane and which are connected with a 90 degree section of trackway

Ceiling protection netting

We install ceiling protection netting to protect ceiling tiles, lights and heaters from balls. Ceiling protection netting is installed in panels to a wire grid and can be fitted to most structures and around existing equipment. We install

  • Tensioned netting to arched ceilings
  • Tensioned netting to flat ceilings

Dividing curtains

We install dividing curtains for segregating sports halls and playing areas within sports halls. We install

  • Dividing curtains on straight aluminium trackway or tensioned wire
  • Dividing curtains on curved trackway and trackway with crossovers
  • Dividing screens on an electrically operated ceiling mounted roller

Golf nets

We install golf netting for practice driving bays

Storage

Nets are normally stored in bags or pouches to prevent them lying on the floor and becoming a trip hazard. Both of these can be either fixed to the wall or winched to the ceiling (electrically or manually) to keep side walls clear if required. We install

  • Bags for curtains and protection nets
  • Pouches for curtains running parallel to a wall

OG Technical - Dividing curtains and protection netting

Supporting system
We use 2 methods of suspending nets inside - either

  • Aluminium trackway, or
  • Tensioned wire rope

Outside we normally use tensioned wire rope or alternatively a rigid frame.

Aluminium trackway
Our SpaceSpan aluminium trackway is a heavy duty extrusion intended for modern sports halls that will span up to 6m without support. The trackway is fixed to overhead beams or purlins by telescopic support brackets which are designed and manufactured to suit the requirements of each project. Wire rope supports can also be used where there are insufficient load bearing beams or purlins directly above the track enabling our trackway to be installed in virtually any position within a sports hall. We also supply curved track section to allow curtains to be stored neatly parallel to side walls or to be used in a different locations, and cross overs to allow curtains to cross net lanes for example. With our trackway nets and screens can be positioned almost anywhere within a sports hall.

Our FreeRoll track runners are unique featuring ball bearings in each wheel. Compared to the plain bearings in most other systems this provides a much freer running net, less prone to jams and torn curtains or screens (often when a runner jams the momentum of the curtain being pulled out can result in the screen tearing or parting from the net). Nets are fixed to the runners with spring snaphooks to allow easy fitment but prevent the net coming off on its own.

Tensioned wire rope
A cost effective alternative to trackway, wire rope is tensioned across a hall or outside area to support nets or curtains. For spans exceeding 15m we recommend our double wire system with double nets as this reduces the weight and droop on each wire reducing the overall sagging effect.

Netting
We supply netting in nylon mesh in the following main sizes

  • 50mm (2") - for Badminton, Cricket, Tennis
  • 25mm (1") - for Table tennis
  • 19mm (3/4") - for Golf
  • Solid mesh - for Archery

We supply solid canvas sight screens 2m high (above eye line to prevent distractions from another area of the sports hall) which can be permanently sewn to the netting or attached with a removable velcro strip (useful if you need to wash the screens eg for cricket net lanes). Standard colours available are white, green or blue though some other colours are available on request. Higher sight screens or solid curtains are also available on request. Screens can be additionally supported by lanyards to prevent the net stretching.
